Under the direction of Lori Turner, the Renaissance Theatre will host auditions for the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT) production of 1,001 Nights. Auditions will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM in Theatre 166, located at 166 Park Avenue West in downtown Mansfield. Theatre 166 is located directly west of the Historic Renaissance Theatre. Appointments are not required for auditions.
Those auditioning must be 18 years of age or younger (unless still attending high school) during the 2024-25 school year and should be no younger than 9 years of age. Anyone auditioning should be prepared to sing a 16-32 measure excerpt from a song of their choice and bring sheet music in the proper key. An accompanist will be provided. Some actors may be asked to read a short scene from the script. Those auditioning should bring a list of schedule conflicts between the dates of auditions and the performances.
1,001 Nights will be presented for four performances on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 and at 7:00 PM, and on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 1:00 and at 4:00 PM.. The production will be presented as an outdoor performance in the Renaissance plaza green space, and is a part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series. The performances are free and open to the public.
RYOT productions are offered as an opportunity for participation by students in second through twelfth grade to be introduced to musical theatre & classical light opera, culminating in performances on one of the historic Renaissance stages.
