Mansfield Named “Tree City USA” For 23rd Consecutive Year

Mayor Tim Theaker is pleased to announce that the National Arbor Day Foundation has named the City of Mansfield a “Tree City USA” for the 23rd consecutive year.  To receive this award, a community and its Shade Tree Commission must demonstrate a commitment to implementing a sound urban forestry policy.

The City of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission has chosen to celebrate our 23 years of being designated as a Tree City USA with a very special Arbor Day Celebration at 34 Park Avenue West  (in front of the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Museum), in downtown Mansfield.  A Gingko will be planted as a part of the Shade Tree Commission’s commitment to the downtown tree replacement program for the ongoing revitalization of our downtown.

The planting of the Gingko will occur on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  This is the first of two projects planned by the Shade Tree Commission to support and encourage the citizens of Mansfield to celebrate Arbor Day and beautification efforts in Mansfield.

Mayor Theaker invites the community to join the Commission by celebrating Arbor Day 2018 with a tree planting and if your schedule permits, join us for this ceremonial tree planting.
