33 FOREVER RAISES RECORD AMOUNT AT RECENT GOLF OUTING

Mansfield-based mental health non-profit 33 Forever, Inc. raised a record amount last week at its Second Annual Golf Outing, Silent Auction and Charity Event. The organization held its event on September 18 at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield. Donna Heck, Board President of 33 Forever, reported that its inaugural event in 2019 raised over $42,000 but the Board was trying to be realistic about its expectations this year given the COVID-19 pandemic. “We were not sure we could even have the event this year and obviously we had to alter what we did last year given COVID issues we had to accommodate. However, this year’s event raised more than $53,000 which honestly crushed even our most optimistic hopes,” said Heck. “We were blown away by the community’s response, especially in the economic times we have all faced during the pandemic. The Mansfield community is truly amazing with the support it provides for important issues like mental health,” she said. Heck also reported that the event had more individual and business sponsors than last year, more golfers participating and nearly double the amount raised by the silent auction which was done “COVID-style” according to Heck, meaning in an online format. The event was open to the public with advance registration.

33 Forever is a non-profit organization that was founded by the family and friends of Danielle Leedy, a vibrant, strong professional young woman and Lexington native, who lost a long battle to chronic depression in February of 2019 at the age of 33. It was created to both honor Dani’s life and her longtime passion to raise awareness, empower and comfort those struggling with the disease of depression and finding self-worth, including suicidal thoughts. According to its website, specifically, 33 Forever’s goal is to positively impact the lives of all those affected by depression, anxiety and their related disorders, including suicidal thoughts. The organization provides hope and help and promotes awareness, engages in advocacy, provides educational programming and resources, supports research efforts and establishes and encourages community support.
