Arrest Warrant Issued For Kidnapping In Case Of Missing Shelby Woman

Shelby Police took a report of a missing person on 2/25/21 at 12:36 p.m. The person reported missing is Melinda Kay Davis, Age 33, 5’ 145 lbs. Brn/Brn. Davis is driving a Black 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, Ohio Plate JGZ8921. She was on her way to 592 Cliffside Dr., Mansfield, OH earlier that morning and had not been heard from.

Shelby police asked the Richland County Sheriff’s Office to check the residence to see if she was there. She was not, nor was her ex-boyfriend John Henry Mack Jr., DOB/3-22-77 5’9” 200 lbs. Black hair and brown eyes. Her black Jetta also was not there.

The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was then executed. The Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation was called to process the scene. Based on the investigation and collection/processing of evidence, and after consulting with the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for John Henry Mack Jr. for Kidnapping ORC 2905.01 B1.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to work with the Shelby Police Department who is assisting with the investigation. Other agencies who are assisting include the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mansfield Police, US Marshals, US Secret Service, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, Ohio Special Response Team, Richland County Community Response Team and our community.
