Shelby's Downtown Revitalization Hits a High Note: Last Tuesday Concert Series and Farmers Market Performances to Elevate Community Spirit

Shelby, Ohio - Wednesday, April 23, 2024 - Downtown Shelby is set to come alive with the launch of a new music series, funded by a generous grant provided by The Shelby Foundation.

The cornerstone of the series is the "Last Tuesday" concert series, featuring five dynamic performances scheduled for the last Tuesday of the months of April, May, June, July, and August. The first concert kicks off this Tuesday, April 30th, at 6 p.m. at Black Fork Commons Plaza featuring Tom’s Kitchen Table. These concerts, part of the Last Tuesday series, promise to transform downtown Shelby into a hub of musical excitement and community gathering.

In addition to the Last Tuesday series, the project will feature eight pop-up musicians during Shelby Farmers Markets, held on Saturday mornings. These performances will infuse the market atmosphere with live music, enhancing the shopping experience and celebrating the local talent of our region.

Shelby Foundation Board Chair Dr. Marissa Miller, expressed her excitement for the project, stating, “When the Foundation invested in Black Fork Commons Plaza, it was with the vision the plaza would be full of people and activities. The Foundation appreciates the Community Improvement Corporation of Shelby (CIC) and their leadership and is happy to financially support plans to activate the space.”

Cody Albert, vice-president of the CIC, emphasized the series' contribution to downtown revitalization efforts, remarking, "The creation of this music series demonstrates our commitment to fostering a vibrant downtown environment. These concerts and pop-up performances will attract visitors, boost economic activity, and foster a greater sense of community pride."

ChelsieThompson, representing the Renaissance Theatre, applauded the inclusivity of the project, noting, "These events provide diverse opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with live music in our community. Whether it's during a concert series or at the farmers market, these performances will enrich the cultural fabric of Shelby."

The concert series is scheduled to kick off on April 30th with the first Last Tuesday concert and will continue throughout the summer. More information on future events can be found on Shelby CIC’s Facebook page Facebook.com/ShelbyCIC.
