Ontario to Consider Redoing Charter Next Generation Tax Abatement

In Ontario, City Council is considering re-doing the tax abatement with Charter Next Generation.

RichlandSource.com reports, legislation introduced this week, shows CNG seeking to re-do the agreement due to factors outside of its control.

The original agreement in 2021, proposed 300 new jobs and a payroll of $37 million. The updated agreement would be 165 new jobs and increased payroll of $10 million.

The reason due to lack of power at the former GM plant site and other issues, which Charter Next Generation has been unable to invest fully what they intended to in terms of employment, payroll, along with machinery and equipment.
