HS Softball: Lexington and Madison One Win Away from State Final Four

High School Softball - Two Richland County schools, Lexington and Madison, are looking to win Regional Championships and advance to the state tournament.

Lexington beat Lake 9-1 on Wednesday in the Division IV Regional Semi-Final at Clyde high school. RichlandSource.com reports, Makaree Chapman of Lex held Lake to just 4 hits, and struck out 8, while allowing just one walk. Lexington (23-2) will play Bryan on Friday at 5 pm at Clyde HS. A win would send Lexington to the State Final Four for the 1st time since 2002.

The Madison Lady Rams Softball team was also a winner on Wednesday, 8-2, over Wapakoneta in the Regional Semi-Final in Division III at Shelby high school.

Madison freshman, Caliyah Clapper, had 3 hits, plus pitched a complete game, striking out 9 and allowing just 4 hits. Madison (21-6) now will play Holland Springfield on Friday in Shelby at 5 pm in the Regional Championship game. A win, would send Madison to the State Tournament.

According to Jake Furr from the Mansfield News Journal, Madison last won a regional title in softball in 1995, while Lexington captured a regional crown in 2002.
