Knox County Fatal Motorcycle Accident, Saturday Evening, on US Route 36

Centerburg - The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 6:25 PM, on US Route 36 near milepost 3 in Centerburg, Knox County.

Harry Young IV, age 39 of Mount Vernon, Ohio, was operating a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on US Route 36. Mr. Young drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a traffic sign and a utility pole. Samantha Hedrick, age 36 of Mount Vernon, Ohio, was the passenger on the motorcycle. Neither rider was wearing a helmet.

Mr. Young sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Central Ohio Joint Fire District to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where he was pronounced deceased. Ms. Hedrick sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Delaware County EMS to Ohio Health Grant Hospital in Columbus.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Central Ohio Joint Fire District, and Delaware County EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
