On August 21, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Richland County ASORT Team, the Major Crimes Section of the Mansfield Division of Police, the METRICH Enforcement Unit, and officers from the Mansfield Division of Police executed an arrest warrant at a residence on Maple Street in Mansfield, Ohio.
25-year-old Yaounde Hawthorne (See below) was arrested for Murder (F1) in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Ja’myrion Hobbs, which occurred on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
In addition, a 15-year-old was also arrested for Murder (F1) in connection with Hobbs’ death. They were located and taken into custody at a separate location.
These arrests were made possible due to valuable tips and information provided by members of our community. Detectives were able to use this information to secure the arrest warrants.
