The Shelby Whippets improved to 2-0 on Friday, as they beat Lexington, 37-13, in their home opener at the Whippet Athletic Complex.
Shelby QB Brayden DeVito was electric on two huge TD runs of 56 yards and 76 yards. The Senior QB also threw two TD passes to Carter Kessler for 53 yards and a 24 yard strike to Brady Bowman.
Kessler was a monster on defense, as he recorded a sack from his defensive end spot, along with a deflected pass, multiple tackles and just lived in the backfield all night.
Lexington Senior QB, Joe Caudill threw two TD passes, one to Seven Allen and the other to Avery Crawford. The game was closed at halftime, 15-7 Shelby, but the Whippets got two big TD runs late, Devito 56 yards and Gavin Baker to seal the game.
Shelby is now 2-0 and has beat Lexington (1-1) 9 straight times.
