In Crawford County, Bucyrus Police are investigating a domestic dispute, where the suspect was fatally shot after barricading himself inside a residence on East Warren Street for more than 13 hours.
Officers responded on Sunday night at 10:21 pm and observed a man with a firearm and wearing body armor. The suspect identified as a 41 year old Bucyrus man, who threatened he had explosive devices, fired multiple shots at police officers, which led to the officer involved shooting late Monday morning.
Law Enforcement officials cleared the residence and explosive materials were located and contained. No officers were injured during the incident.
A heavy police presence was on the scene with local and state partners. The Bucyrus Schools cancelled classes on Monday and roads in the immediate area were closed.
Four Richland County Law Enforcement agencies responded: Mansfield, Ontario and Lexington police departments, along with the Sheriff Offices from Richland, Ashland and Crawford Counties. A Bomb Squad also responded to the scene.
