CEO You Should Know - Nikki Harless

Nikki is a native of Butler Ohio. Her given name is Monique but most people know her as “Nikki”. After graduating from Clear Fork High School, she attended the Ohio State University of Mansfield. In 1992 she became the first person in her family to earn a college degree. On 6.1.1992, Nikki began career as a caseworker for Richland County Children Services and in 2003 was promoted to a supervisory position. She was able to go back to the Ohio State University utilizing the Agency’s tuition reimbursement program and earn her master’s degree of Social Work. In 2007 she was promoted to the Assistant Director position. In May of 2012 she served as the interim Executive Director until February of 2013. In July 2019 she again served as the interim Executive Director until she applied for and was hired as the new Executive Director in January 2020.

Nikki contributes her strong work ethic to her parents. Her mother, Lynn Seifert retired from Therm-O-Disc and her father, David Oswalt from Gorman Rupp after each working for their respective employers for over 40 years. Nikki and her husband Tim have been married and living in the Ontario area for the past 15 years. They are a blended family and have cared for five wonderful children together. Nikki has worked to contribute to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect in Richland County for over 27 years. Nikki is passionate about ensuring children are safe and with their families whenever possible. She values the grandparents and other family members who have taken on the responsibility of caring for their relative children. Nikki also values the many foster parents from Richland County who have adopted the children that they fostered for the Agency. Nikki believes children need to feel a sense of safety, belonging, and permanency which is why the work the Agency does is so important.
