Here's today's feel-good story:
8-year-old second-grader Dillon Helbig slipped his hand-written 81-page book onto the stacks of a children's section of his local library so that he could share his illustrated holiday-themed story with other kids.
A regular patron of the Ada Community Library's Hazel Branch, Dillon even signed his masterpiece called The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Crismis that he placed between some other picture books.
“I’ve been wanting to put a book in the library since I was 5,” Dillon said. After his mom called the branch to alert them of the book, the branch manager Alex Hartman told her that the book had been added to the library's collection and that it was gaining popularity!
“Dillon is a confident guy and a generous guy. He wanted to share the story,” Hartman said. “I don’t think it’s a self-promotion thing. He just genuinely wanted other people to be able to enjoy his story… He’s been a lifelong library user, so he knows how books are shared.”
