Pilot Operates Airplanes Without Arms & Inspires Others

Jessica Cox is a pilot who can fly planes--without hands. CNN reports that this pilot is able to operate planes by handling the throttle and yoke with her two feet. Born without arms, Cox has been certified by the FAA to operate a light sports aircraft called the Ercoupe since 2008. As a child, she was taught to use prosthetic arms but never cared for them, explaining, "I just thought that my feet were better." Flying planes is not the only fantastic feat Cox has achieved. She also holds a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a certification in scuba diving and has been a motivational speaker, talking in over 20 countries. When she thinks about having been born with arms, Cox says her life would be totally different. However, she says that "because I live my life the way I do, it has this tremendous impact on other people. I've had role models and leaders. And because I've had that, now it's my responsibility to be the same for the next generation."
