Taylor Swift Writes to Senator about LGBT Rights

Taylor Swift got political over the weekend by writing an open letter about LGBTQ rights and celebrating Pride Month at Wango Tango in Los Angeles.Variety reports that Swift posted a letter to Tennessee Republican senator Lamar Alexander on her Instagram account Friday evening. In the letter, Swift asked Alexander to vote for the Equality Act, which will protect the LGBTQ community from discrimination in the workplace, homes, schools, and other public accommodations. On Saturday, Swift took the stage in a head-to-toe rainbow outfit during her set at our 2019 Wango Tango in Los Angeles. She also continued to advocate for the Equality Act, telling the audience, “It’s wonderful to be spending this particular evening with you, because today is the first day of Pride Month. A lot of my songs are about love, and I just feel like who you love, how you identify, you should be able to live your life the way you want to live your life with the same rights as everybody else.”
