Less than 24 hours after dropping her pro-LGBTQ single “You Need to Calm Down,” Taylor Swift gave a surprise performance at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. According to TMZ, the event was hosted by the venue and AEG to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. Swift took the stage after an introduction fromModern Familystar Jesse Tyler Ferguson, wishing the crowd a “Happy Pride" before performing her hit single "Shake it Off." Representatives at GLAAD, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, also confirmed on Friday that they saw an influx in donations in the hours after Swift dropped "You Need to Calm Down,” an anti-hate anthem that calls out anti-gay bullies.
